Patience is a Virtue
Patience is something we have been told is extremely important to us from a young age. It's something that's been embedded in our head. And it's true. Patience is something that can solve many problems and make us happy.
Something that's rampant in this day and age is depression. And people get depressed at a young age. Reasons for this depression may be job stress, lack of friends, bullying, a tragic event, etc. However, sometimes depression at a young age can often times be tackled by being patient.
If it's one thing I have noticed, millenials are extremely impatient, myself included. We are so used to instant gratification, that we can not wait for anything. If we don't get recognized and accepted by our peers or seniors or colleagues immediately, we tend to become depressed. This is partly because we have been so spoiled. Our parents usually give us all we want immediately. So when we leave our parents and face the world, often times we are not prepared for what we are going to face.
Social Media also has a role to play. Because we are so used to getting to know people online within minutes, and we so not have that physical bond with them, we find making friends very easy online. However once we step into the real world, we find that developing relationships take an extremely long time. And often times we give up, without even waiting it out.
Our generation wants instant pain relief and instant pleasure, both of which are not possible but it has been fed into our mind that anything is possible because of social media. But all we need to remember is that patience in necessary when it comes to real life. And it's something we should never forget. Promotion, recognition, love, friendships, all of these come only with time. And if we understand this and be patient, we will be able to have a happy life.
